Semantic-based Groupware System for Collaborative Support in Public Administration Processes

چکیده
In this article a Semantic-based Groupware System (GWS) implemented within the SAKE project (Semantic Agile Knowledgebased E-government) is presented. The overall objective of the SAKE project is to specify, develop and deploy a holistic framework and supporting tools for an agile knowledge-based e-government that will be sufficiently flexible to adapt to changing and diverse environments and needs. Public administration processes are knowledge-intensive, dependant on valid legislation, and experts in specific domains are needed for their management. The core of the whole SAKE system is represented by an integrated knowledge space unifying different perspectives and interpretations of existing knowledge resources. It enables to assign metadata to each knowledge object, allowing thus more sophisticated retrieval. The main objective of the Technical University of Kosice research team was to provide a semantic-based groupware system supporting public servants in sharing their knowledge using the collaborative software as well as to help them in managing and creation of expert working groups, which are frequently used in governmental internal administration processes. One of the main contributions to the semantic enhancement of the system, described in this paper, is based on a method of discussion forums analysis and calculation of users’ ranking, based on the actual annotated discussion topic.

A Structured Approach to Designing Interleaved Workflow and Groupware Tasks
Modern organizations are investing in organizational process coordination tools such as groupware and workflow systems for better decision-making and business process execution. However, these systems are deployed in a standalone manner with the result that business processes that span these systems are highly fragmented. Processes are designed and managed independently for each system, resulti...
متن کاملGroupware and Business Process Improvement: technology enabled organisational learning
Much of the evaluative research on groupware in organisations so far has been preoccupied with the role of groupware as a new interaction media to replace or extend face-to-face communication in groups. It has focused on gains and losses from a group interaction point of view, typically disregarding the impact of other functions such as allowing public access to relevant historical and business...
متن کاملUse of Semantic Similarity and Web Usage Mining to Alleviate the Drawbacks of User-Based Collaborative Filtering Recommender Systems
One of the most famous methods for recommendation is user-based Collaborative Filtering (CF). This system compares active user’s items rating with historical rating records of other users to find similar users and recommending items which seems interesting to these similar users and have not been rated by the active user. As a way of computing recommendations, the ultimate goal of the user-ba...
متن کاملTowards a Method for Evolutionary Implementation of Groupware
Groupware is a typical example of an application domain in which requirements are hard to elicit and keep changing before, during, and after the introduction of the system. This calls for an evolutionary implementation approach. Several socio-technical models give an explanation of the interaction between the technical and the social system, i.e., the software and its organisational environment...

This paper presents AREA, an integrated synchronous and asynchronous notification service for awareness information. AREA uses a semantic model of the client applications to support cross-application awareness. The service is based on the dichotomy of interest and privacy Notifications of user activities are a function of relevance in the current work situation and the privacy requirements of t...
